For a belated Valentine’s Day celebration, my boyfriend and I decided to go for a night away in the city. After some research online, I found Quincy Hotel, a Singapore-based company. Having recently returned from Singapore a few months prior, the nostalgia hit me, making Quincy Hotel the obvious choice. The fact that they also fit into our budget for the night was a bonus.
As you may already know, most hotels in Melbourne don’t have their own private parking. However, we found the overnight price of $35 to be quite reasonable compared to other establishments. After arriving early, around 11 am, our room was ready to our surprise. The hotel lobby has a cool urban vibe, including the lifts, which had a creative design. We had a quick look around our room before going out for lunch.

Lunch: Il Mercato Centrale
For lunch, we settled on Il Mercato Centrale, a short five minute walk from the hotel. Il Mercato Centrale is an Italian place with relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
There is a wide variety of fresh artisanal food to choose from on the ground level; simply place your order using the QR code on the table or browse around and order directly from the store. Il Mercato Centrale has 23 artisan stores, including an authentic Italian restaurant and a Napoletana pizzeria located on level 1.
I really enjoyed the idea of this space, which is designed for communal dining and conversation, but as an introvert, it provides plenty of private, quiet areas. Did I mention the variety? From seafood, steaks, pizza, dessert, gelato, drinks and of course amazing coffee!! I would be interested in visiting again during the evening – I think it would be a great place to have dinner with friends.
Check this place out on your next visit to the New York end of Collins street, in Melbourne. https://www.mercatocentrale.com.au/

Quincy Quick Review
Quincy hotel is located in Flinders lane, with 241 rooms to reflect the colour and vibrance of the city. The hotel has its own rooftop bar called Q, sadly on the night we were there it was closed. However, we did enjoy the views from the rooftop swimming pool – highly recommended! Our room was large and spacious – we did find the closet to be a quaint for a hotel, but the overall design added to the charm, blending luxury with modern design. The bathroom featured a beautiful rainfall shower that washed away the stress from a long day exploring the city. Our room had all the usual amenities, but the view of Southbank was the real highlight.

The hotel is not far from southern cross station and has lots of eateries and shopping nearby. The best part of our stay was breakfast at Salted Egg, the hotel’s in-house restaurant. Instead of a buffet menu, you choose a meal from a set menu, including a drink of your choice. I tried the chilli scrambled eggs, they were amazing and I still reminisce about them to this date.

If you are looking for a unique stay that is luxurious but affordable the Quincy Hotel should definitely be on your list – with rooms available at different price points. Also get the breakfast package. It’s worth it! https://quincymelbourne.com/
