LA VÈTTA is an Italian fine dinning experience every Australian can appreciate.
I visited this fabulous restaurant as part of a surprise lunch organised by my boyfriend for my 35th birthday. I wasn’t too thrilled about getting older but once I arrived, all of those worries disappeared.
The Vibes
The experience can best be described as immaculate, serene and wholesome. After all, where else can you enjoy a well crafted Italian meal while overlooking a paddock of camels?
Every space within the restaurant feels intentional, reflecting a sense of quiet luxury. The tables are well spaced, while the soft background music and natural lighting create an elegant and private dining experience.
Our server was upbeat as she described the dishes, suggested drinks and served complimentary house-made bread with truffle butter. The bread deserves a special mention-I would happily buy it on its own. It was that good.
If you have friends or family members that prefer low-sensory environments, LA VÈTTA is an excellent choice.
The Location
The resturant is located at Marong Estate, 15 minutes from Melbourne Airport and 35 minutes from Melbourne CBD.
The estate offers much more than just a restaurant. Guests can admire the panoramic views of the Macedon Ranges, visit the historic homestead or enjoy the onsite cafe, bar and winery.
After your meal, take time to explore the grounds or relax on the lawns with a coffee watching the animals at the homestead. It’s an idyllic way to finish the experience.
The Food
We dined during their lunch service and enjoyed three dishes from the menu.
Burrata – roasted pumpkin, pinenuts, pomegranates, mint, cumin and hot honey $28.
Bigoli all’anatra – braised duck leg, citrus and coco $25.
Agnello – lamb backstrap cooked over coal, plum romesco farro, mint, horseradish and pistachio $50.
The food was exquisite. Every dish was full of flavour and left us feeling completely satisfied.
I also tried the signature LA VÈTTA Martini. While it was enjoyable, it wasn’t anything extraordinary. I would recommend trying one of the estate’s local wines instead.
Our total came to around $140, which I thought was very reasonable considering the quality of food, service and setting.
