We recently stayed at the Wyndham Hotel in Melbourne, part of the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts group, which also owns popular chains like Ramada. Having visited the Phillip Island resort a few times, this was our first stay at the Melbourne location and here’s what I thought.
Very good facilities: The hotel offers 24-hour reception, rooftop heated swimming pool, barbecue area, library, gym, ground floor retail and dining precinct. The staff are also very friendly and the service is prompt.
The best feature – the kitchenette: We stayed in the Studio Deluxe room, which included a well equipped partial kitchen with a dishwasher, toaster, kettle, induction cooktop and fridge. The appliances were high quality and they provided milk along with a generous selection of tea and coffee. I was genuinely impressed – everything you need for a comfortable stay was there.
Spacious and comfortable rooms: The room felt large and thoughtfully designed, with a big bathroom and separate areas to sit and eat comfortably. The lounge space made it feel more like an apartment than a standard hotel room.
Family-friendly: This hotel is nice for families because of the space and convenience. The kitchen facilities make it easy to prepare meals or snacks and being on the quieter side of the CBD allows for a relaxing stay while still being accessible to the city attractions.

The decor: The decor is functional but not exciting. The colour palette is clean and practical but lighter colours would make the space feel brighter and friendlier.
The balcony view: Rooms come with a balcony, but the view is mostly of the car park and nearby buildings. On the plus side, the rooftop pool offers an amazing view of the city.
No room service or breakfast: There’s is room service or hotel breakfast. But there is a small dining precinct connected to the hotel where you can place an order for your room. We opted for breakfast bagels just a 1 minute walk from the main lobby.

Summary:
Overall, Wyndham Hotel Melbourne is a fuss-free, functional hotel with good quality and thoughtful design. It’s great for families, solo travelers or anyone looking for a comfortable stay in the city – just don’t expect luxury.
