Melbourne is synonymous with coffee, but I personally prefer a cup of tea. Still, when you live in Melbourne, it feels almost criminal not to enjoy the occasional coffee!

Here are some of my favourite places to grab a coffee:

1. Patricia Coffee Brewers

What more can be said about this already popular coffee spot? Well, its popular for a reason – the coffee is fantastic year round. The place itself is quaint, with just enough room to stand inside or sip your brew outside.

You’ll notice the baristas are always busy yet the service remains friendly and swift. On my last visit I was offered a cold coffee with a hint of orange. I don’t usually go for cold coffee, but really enjoyed it. Don’t skip their baked treats either – I really enjoyed the canelé.

2. Mörk Chocolate Looking Glass

Okay it’s not coffee but hey it’s hot chocolate!! If you love a rich hot chocolate on a cold winter day, Mörk is a must. With several locations across Melbourne, this specialty chocolate cafe is the perfect retreat for anyone with a sweet tooth. They offer a full range of Söt by Mörk pastries and cakes alongside Patricia coffee.

My top recommend? The Original Dark 70%, their original blend made with cacao powder, 100% cacao liquid and coconut sugar. It has notes of stone fruit, almonds and ripe berries – making for a comforting cup that feels like a warm hug.

3. Good Measure – Carlton

I first heard of Good Measure on instagram – their Mont Blanc coffee had gone viral, so naturally I had to try it and in short, it was worth the trip down to Carlton. The famous Mount Blanc is a black filter brew, lightly sweetened, topped with whipped cream and finished with fresh grated nutmeg and orange zest.

On my last visit, it was too busy for sit-down afternoon tea but I enjoyed my drink as a strolled outside. The flavour was unique and fresh flavour, although I do find it a bit expensive for around $9 for a small coffee, but you are paying for the creativity and uniqueness of the drink. The Mont Blanc can be ordered hot or cold and they also have a range of other coffee brews and desserts to try. Just keep in mind its walk-in only and except a queues during peak coffee drinking times.

4. Puzzle Coffee

Puzzle Coffee is a socially responsible bean to cup artisan coffee house, serving speciality coffee. The brand is so socially conscious that you can even eat your takeaway coffee container. They have several locations across Melbourne, from Chadstone to the CBD. If you are looking for a cup of reliable coffee and feel overwhelmed with choice – Puzzle Coffee is a solid bet.

5. Little Rogue

Tucked away in a Melbourne laneway, Little Rogue is a popular cafe. You will commonly see queues outside this cosy little spot for a very good reason – their very good cups of coffee. The cafe itself has a hidden-away vibe paired with a modern minimal design. Their coffee is favourable and rich, with a wide range of coffees to enjoy, including matcha.
